Where does the Shiva-shell come from?
Top (or dolphin) shell (lat. Turbinidae) lives in up to 20m depth and feed on algae that grows on corals or stones.
The marine animal carries during his lifetime a 'protective door', the so-called operculum or Shiva-shell, which protects the life of the animal during attacks by being pulled by the muscle power of the snail in front of the opening of the snail shell.
After the natural death of the animal, the stone dissolves and is released as a 'Shiva-shell'.
The distinctive spiral is located on the back of the Shiva-shell and symbolizes positive energy. It is a jewel to protect against evil forces and will eternally watch over its wearer. In Hinduism, the 'Shiva shell' (spiral) symbolizes the third eye of the Deity Shiva and center of omniscience.
